Course Overview

In early 2006, Faldo Design was selected to create Katameya Dunes, a 27-hole ‘desert oasis’ styled golf course over spectacular duneland on the outskirts of Cairo.

I’m delighted to be working on what is our first design project in Egypt – indeed our first in North Africa. It is a wonderful site and there is a really special atmosphere about the place – the sense of history is almost tangible. I’m confident that this 27-hole facility will go on to be recognised as one of the very finest in the region. What I feel that I can especially bring to the project is a certain level of strategic insight that will help to define and colour the golfer’s experience. The courses I design are very much aimed at the thoughtful, imaginative golfer, and it is precisely these players that will get the most out of playing at Katameya Dunes.
