Cornelia Golf ResortFaldo Design’s Cornelia Golf Resort was recently confirmed as one of the host venues for the World Amateur Team Championships - popularly known as the Eisenhower Trophy - when the prestigious tournament comes to Turkey in 2012.

Cornelia Golf Resort was opened by the six-time Major winner last year and will now host some of the best amateur golfing talent from across the world when the tournament arrives. The biennial event, which has been dubbed the ‘Olympics of golf’, has been contested by a host of famous past participants, including Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Sergio Garcia and Phil Mickelson. Cornelia Golf Resort’s 27 hole facility in Belek will be one of three host venues for the tournament.

Faldo commented: “Our layout at Cornelia offers great variety across the 27-hole complex and will pose an apt strategic test and a fine challenge for amateur golfers of this caliber. Through the Faldo Series Turkey Championship, I have also experienced the thirst for golf that exists amongst young Turkish players. I believe that bringing this kind of amateur tournament to the country will not only be of great interest to the Turkish golfing public but also offer an important step towards further developing the sport in Turkey.”
