Laguna Golf Lang Co Putting Vietnam on Global Golfing Map

Lang Co, Vietnam: Nick Faldo-designed Laguna Golf Lang Co, home to the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final, is one of the golf clubs leading the charge as part of a freshly launched destination marketing effort geared towards cementing Central Vietnam’s status as one of Asia’s leading places for play.

The new Destination Marketing Organisation, named Vietnam Golf Coast, was inaugurated at an official launch in Danang and aims to capture the attention of avid golfers worldwide.

With high quality layouts designed by some of the biggest names in golf architecture along with vibrant cities, incredible beaches and hotels as well as an enviable infrastructure, Central Vietnam already has a reputation as one of Asia's most complete golf destinations.

And it is hoped that a joint push to bring golf visitors to the area will serve to build on the area’s appeal.

The new collective links seven of the region's best signature golf courses. As well as Laguna Golf Lang Co, Vietnam Golf Coast includes Ba Na Hills Golf Club (designed by Luke Donald), Montgomerie Links (designed by Colin Montgomerie), BRG Da Nang Golf Resort (designed by Greg Norman and Jack Nicklaus), Vinpearl Golf Nam Hoi An (IMG Design), as well as the soon-to-open Hoiana Shores Golf Club (designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr).

“Vietnam’s reputation as a golf destination has never been brighter and we can say that the cluster of courses in the centre of the country represent the jewel in its crown,” said Adam Calver, Director of Golf at Laguna Lang Co.

“What’s great about the clubs involved in Vietnam Golf Coast is that they offer such a wide variety of experiences to golfers. At Laguna Golf Lang Co, you encounter rice paddies, jungle and ocean holes.

“Elsewhere, we have everything from traditional links-style golf to tropical, garden-style courses. You can be playing seaside coastal golf one day and the next day be enjoying terrific mountain vistas. Together we can showcase all these great courses as well as the compelling tourism activities available in this part of Vietnam.”

Vietnam's courses have garnered a slew of accolades in recent years. The country was singled out as ‘Asia’s Best Golf Destination’ at the World Golf Awards in 2017 and 2018.

Golf Digest named Laguna Lang Co Golf Resort among the ‘Best Golf Resorts in Asia’ in its list of ‘World’s 100 Best Golf Courses’ in 2018.

Nguyen Xuan Binh, Deputy Director of Danang Tourism Department, underscored Central Vietnam’s growing appeal for golfers. “With all these internationally renowned golf courses in one place, it’s a great chance for golfers from all over the world to come and decide which is their favourite,” he said.

The 13th Faldo Series Asia Grand Final will be hosted by Sir Nick Faldo at Laguna Lang Co in March.
