Sir Nick Faldo to design signature golf course in DHA Multan, Pakistan
Multan, Pakistan. (10th July): The Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Multan, Pakistan, has signed an agreement with 6-time major champion, Sir Nick Faldo and his Faldo Design firm to deliver a signature golf course on the property of a high-end residential community in Multan, Pakistan. The Sir Nick Faldo Signature Golf Course will represent the first-ever signature design in Pakistan, marking the 25th country hosting a Faldo Design project worldwide.
“There is a real energy and inspiration when you design a course in a new golf market as the layers of opportunity are plenty,” said Faldo. “This course will not only represent a new recreation and lifestyle property in Pakistan but also a true opportunity for our sport.”
“I have personally come to know the promise of young Pakistani golfers, through their participation in the Faldo Series,” he continued. “Our vision in this project with DHA in Multan incorporates the local texture while providing strategy and facilities equal to memorable championship courses around the world.”
Brigadier Nadeem Aslam, DHA Multan‘s Project Director, said, “ Golf is a game of passion and a fast growing sport in Pakistan. We have talent but it needs to be nurtured to compete at international level and my objective is to see Pakistani golfers participating on Asian and European Tours”.
“Being Pakistan’s first signature course, complimented by a “performance academy” and managed and operated by an internationally reputed company, this golf course will become Golf’s Centre of Excellence. Focused on Pakistan’s future with golf, the course aims to host Faldo Series Championships and other international events.”, he reiterated. “This championship 18-hole golf course will be part of a prestigious golf community project which includes high end/ luxury villas and apartments besides other hospitality and commercial precincts”.
Sir Nick Faldo and Brigadier Nadeem Aslam expressed shared enthusiasm, during the agreement signing at the Faldo Design Office, Windsor, England, UK which marked a significant milestone in Pakistan’s sports history.
Faldo and his design team have begun successful and productive working sessions with the DHA project team to finalize vision and concepts. The Faldo Design team made its first official visit to the site in late June. Course construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter 2018 with completion and opening scheduled for end of 2019.
